Credit Controller
Our client are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join their dynamic finance team at a leading international retail business based in Manchester. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing the company’s credit control process, ensuring timely payments from clients, maintaining positive client relationships, and reducing the risk of bad debt.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to handle transactions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Credit Controller position include:
- Credit Management: Monitor and manage customer accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices, proactively following up with clients to reduce debtor days.
- Debt Collection: Chase overdue payments via phone, email, and letters, resolving any payment issues or disputes effectively.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate records of payment and outstanding balances.
- Customer Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing queries or concerns related to invoices or credit terms in a professional manner.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct credit checks for new and existing clients, assess creditworthiness, and recommend credit limits.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on outstanding debts, collections progress, and credit risk exposure, providing insights to senior management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and finance teams to ensure alignment on credit policies, payment terms, and customer issues.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within the credit control function and recommend strategies to enhance cash flow and reduce debtor risk.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar credit control role.
- Strong understanding of credit management, debt collection, and account reconciliation.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in using financial software.
