Assistant Accountant
A leading national engineering organisation based in Salford Quays are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will assist with the preparation of financial reports, take ownership of day-to-day accounting tasks, and support the wider finance function.
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant position will include:
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Month-End Procedures: Support month-end close processes, including journal postings, accruals, and prepayments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting process, providing analysis and insights to aid financial planning.
- VAT & Tax Compliance: Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns and other statutory filings, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
Key Requirements:
- Part-qualified and working towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- Proven experience within a previous accounting role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
